Holiday Bargains Abound in Facebook Marketplace

From sunglasses to snowboards, Facebook Marketplace is full of holiday bargains and one-of-a-kind gifts for even the most discriminating on your list.

What’s more, gently-used is a greener alternative to purchasing new. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average American produces five million tons of trash between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day — much of which can be attributed to packaging and peanuts.  Do your part to reduce trash by purchasing used, all while keeping some extra green in your pocketbook.

Here are just a few of my favorites holiday gift finds on Facebook Marketplace this year:

Doggie Den Insulated Doghouse ($200)

These folks make doghouses out of insulated metal wall panels that would otherwise end up in a landfill. For those that can afford to pamper their pup this year, this is a doggie’s dream.

Burton Snow Board ($150)

For $150, this “never been used” snowboard would be perfect for my son — and an entry into winter sports.

Ticket for Unlimited Park-to-park Access to Universal Studios and Universal’s Islands of Adventure Parks  ($100)

Time + fun activity = priceless memories. This ticket for unlimited park-to-park access to both Universal Studios Florida and Univeral’s Islands of Adventure theme parks for up to seven consecutive days would no doubt be worth every penny. And with a value of more than $350, this comes at a pretty good deal.

Blackberry Curve Phone ($100)
Only six months old and the seller claims it is in near perfect condition. For $100, I might need to purchase this as a gift for myself as back-up for the next time my three-year old lands my phone in the toilet.

Life-size Bronze Statues of Girl and Frog ($3200)

If I had an extra few thousand dollars, I would definitely consider these life-size bronze statues to create an Alice in Wonderland look in my back yard. Or — maybe my husband wouldn’t mind if I swapped out his pickup, which the seller offers as a purchasing option.

Custom Pet Portraits (Starting at $25)
This seller will paint a custom pet portrait from any clear photograph of your pet. I think this might be perfect for my mother-in-law — who would definitely hand a portrait of her poodle in her entry.

Pursuit of Happiness DVD ($5)

Five bucks is a good investment for a movie that my family would enjoy watching again and again. Now the question is who gets it in their stocking?

Harley Davidson Leather Jacket  ($250)

I don’t own a motorcycle (nor do I plan to purchase one), but I love this Harley leather coat. It is just simply COOL.

Sterling Hammered Cuff Bracelet   ($32)
I recently saw a similar piece at a jewelry trunk show for more than a hundred dollars more. This would be perfect for my sister-in-law who doesn’t do trendy and appreciates one-of-a-kind accessories.

Oakley Sunglasses  ($70)

At the rate my husband goes through sunglasses, I can’t justify buying new. Likely he’ll never know the difference with this pair:-)

Happy shopping!
